Day 6

28th February

2 comments:

  1. Back to normal after a weekend away with nowhere to blog! The comments about leadership in today's readings apply just as much today as they did in Biblical times. Jethro's coming and his advice helped Moses to bring his work load under control and relieved the tedious waiting for justice experienced by the Israelites. Such a simple idea.
Reading from Timothy in The Messenger (a link), we are asked to be responsive to our pastoral leaders, "contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?" Surely a lesson we can take into all aspects of our lives? If we all turned to constructive help rather than destrictive criticism we would surely get further faster!

  2. Couldn't agree more Chris...

It had been pointed out to me before that the first "not good" in the bible was about Adam not being alone, but I hadn't realised that the comment on Moses' struggle with the demands of leadership is the second "not good" comment!

It just underlines for me that fact that not only are we not meant to live in isolation from others, but we are also created to work alongside others in collaboration for the good of God's Kingdom. Just as God exists as a community of three Persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), so we are meant to live and work as part of a community of some kind.
